Articles are the bread an butter of a writers life and cover anything from dryly technical "how to" pieces to thoughtful features and opinion items (PDF).

News

News is a rather different discipline and I much prefer dealing in areas where I have some expertise, although the modern trend is for journalists to be a "pure" journalist, able to turn his or her hand to any subject, rather than specialise.

It often shows. A very senior BBC business reporter once compared two companies by contrasting one's turnover with another's (lack of) profit.

If you understand what a rookie error that is, you may be in the market for a writer with some grasp of business.

Copy writing

Perhaps you need someone to write something for you because you do not have time. Whether ghosted under your name, or under no name, it may be about a construction project, or an article explaining the potential of new technology (this version was before a US PR machine got hold of it. Ho hum).

Any decent writer can take a brief, carry out necessary interviews and research and draft an article. I'm a very decent writer. Fees, as ever, negotiable.
